Both. Every 12oz and 2lb bag comes as Whole Bean, Coarse, Medium, or Fine. The 5lb bags are whole bean only, since bulk buyers almost always grind their own.

Coarse for French press and cold brew. Medium for drip and pour-over. Fine for espresso. If you are not sure, buy whole bean and grind it yourself. Even a cheap burr grinder beats anything pre-ground.

Every bag has a roast date on it. Coffee hits its stride a few days off roast and holds beautifully for about three to four weeks. Ground coffee moves faster, so use it within two.

Sealed bag, room temperature, out of direct sun. Skip the fridge and the freezer.

Straitjacket is the everyday medium roast and the safest first pick. Buried Alive if you take it dark or with milk. Metamorphosis if you are pulling espresso. Handcuff if you want the flavor without the caffeine.
